While the debate rages on as to whether Canadians pay too much for their wireless data plans, I’m sure we can all agree that managing data usage is a necessity to combat bill shock. Google announced an update to its Chrome for Mobile browser today that will appeal to the data conscious.
Both Android and iOS Chrome for Mobile users can now find a ‘Reduce data usage’ option in their app settings under ‘Bandwidth management’, which can cut their web data usage by up to 50%. The feature also enables a safe browsing mode to protect against malicious sites while surfing.
Google also teased Google Translate and web shortcuts support in upcoming versions of Chrome for Mobile, so stay on the lookout for another update in the next few days. (mobilesyrup)
