At one point in time BlackBerry’s main conference was called Wireless Enterprise Symposium (WES), then transitioned to BlackBerry World, and recenlty shifted towards BlackBerry Live. Now it’s no more — at least in 2014.
According to a recent post on the company blog, BlackBerry has decided to cancel the May extravaganza and opt for smaller, more intimate gatherings. BlackBerry noted that they “will not be hosting a BlackBerry Live conference in 2014. Instead, we’re planning to continue with an engaging lineup of smaller, targeted events taking place all around the world over the next 12 months.”
The BlackBerry Live events usually gave an update on where the company was heading, at least one product announcement, developer sessions and a trade show. Next year, which aligns with the enterprise vision of BlackBerry, the company will hold events that are “designed with a greater focus on the specific business, developer, and partner audiences.”
BlackBerry has already listed some of the events which they’ll be participating in — ranging from CES, Pepcom, a few Government and security focussed events, plus ConFoo, Wavefront Wireless Summit and Mobile World Congress (hopefully new devices will be announced there). (mobilesyrup)
