The partnership with Symantec enables parents to protect their children when surfing the web.

Orange has partnered with computer security, Symantec to roll out Norton Family.

The service helps parents protect their children online across smartphones, tablets and computer screens using both mobile and wi-fi networks.

It will enable Orange to strengthen and simplify the protection of younger users by creating a dialogue between parents and their kids about online safety.

Vincent Carré, director of Orange Trust, said: “This partnership with Symantec underlines our commitment to deliver tangible solutions that fulfill our strategic priority to help our customers control and protect their digital life.”

Orange is dedicated to active child safety through awareness and educational initiatives for customers, along with offering a range of tools giving protected access to the Internet.

Parents will get an insight into their children’s online activities and encourages conversation about being safe. Norton Family allows the use of mobile devices and desktop to see all activity.

Feature include:
  • Web supervision: Helping parents identify and limit access to certain sites they feel inappropriate.
  • Search supervision: Informs parents of what kids are searching for.
  • Time supervision: Assists in the teaching of children in time-management habits, and sets usage limits or PC and Mac.
  • Email alerts: Contacts parents when children are breaching agreed boundaries – such as searching for an agreed restricted web site.
  • Mobile parent management app: This gives parents easy access to settings, and view all activity straight from a mobile or tablet.
Deborah Preston, online safety expert at Symantec, commented: “Norton Family is a great tool to start the conversation about online safety, setting up your specific family rules together with your kids, while respecting their growth and independence.”

The service will be available in a number of Orange’s European including Spain, Slovakia, Luxembourg and the UK – with more markets coming later in the year.
